Attend GPUG DayONE at Convergence 2012
The Dynamics GP User Group (GPUG®) is once again helping to kick-off Microsoft Convergence 2012 by hosting DayONE on Sunday, March 18, in Houston. GPUG DayONE features peer-to-peer, interactive breakout sessions and networking opportunities that allow you to learn from other Microsoft Dynamics GP users in a GP-focused setting prior to jumping into the full Convergence agenda.
Connect with other Dynamics GP users who think and work like you do, and build a strategy for making the most of your Convergence experience. DayONE is open to the entire Dynamics GP community (whether or not you’re attending Convergence). Learn more and sign-up today at: www.gpug.com/conferences/DayONE
On Day Two and Three, Accolade's Publisher, Richard L. Whaley, will be hosting the SSRS Reporting Table in the Birds of a Feather sessions of Convergence 2012. Attendees are invited to bring their own questions about the SSRS Reporting System and ask Richard (author of the book Creating Reports with SSRS). The format of the session should provide an intimate setting with only a few people with similar issues at a roundtable.
Product Engineering--Now Shipping
The second of our manufacturing series for MS Dynamics GP, Product Engineering is now shipping. This book is the authoritative text on designing products in GP for manufacturing.
This book covers bills of materials, routers, defining the plant to the software, creating those virtual employees called labor codes, and all of the extra fields needed by inventory items for manufacturing. An entire chapter is devoted to outside processing and getting a router properly built to accommodate outsourced production.
Do you know how to build scrap factors into the product structure? Do you know how to have different scrap factors for the same component in different parent items? Do you know how to build a valid list of alternate items specific to bills of materials? Do you know how to attach and use drawings in manufacturing using nothing but standard GP software?
GP Version 2012?
Microsoft demonstrated some of the new features of the next version of MS Dynamics GP, called internally 12-0, at the closing session of the GPUG summit in Las Vegas on 11-11-11. The audience was thrilled with what they saw which was a small sample of the features that the GP development team is working on.
One of the best received features is a long-awaited Select the Printer at Print-time option designed to allow users to direct the current report or document to the printer of their choice.
Additional announcements included the replacement of the GP Report Writer with SSRS reports. In Version 12-0, only the business documents will be replaced with Report Writer still producing many of the standard reports. Over the next few versions, more and more reports will be generated by the SSRS reporting tools.
Additional features were announced and Accolade will present them over the next few weeks. Watch this space for more announcements about MS Dynamics GP Version 12-0. Start getting ready by learning the SSRS report writer! Our book, Creating Reports with SSRS starts at the beginning and teaches this tool to the most basic of users.
