GP Version 2010--First Look

As we start assembling the material for our Version 2010 Unleashed booklet, some of the changes stand out and are worth noting.

The install process, which in Version 10 could take 30 minutes per workstation, seems much faster.  It took only 4 minutes to install on my workstation, an XP Virtual PC with 2 gigs of memory allocated.  Now, to be fair, Dot Net 3.5 was already installed but the Dexterity Shared Components were loaded during these few minutes.  This alone is a great improvement that, if a client was on some version prior to 10, would make me want to take them directly to 2010.

Of course, as you login, you notice the "Remember Me" options that allow users to default their user ID, Password, and preferred login company.  But the big change on the Home Page is the Microsoft Dynamics Online Connect.  Designed by Microsoft to provide direct connections to user forums, blogs, and Customer Service, I believe it will be the first thing System Managers turn off to control employees spending time on the Internet rather than getting their work completed.
