Elucidation...It's What We Do
It’s legal, it’s moral, and it’s important to you!
I heard the phrase used by one of those early morning show attorneys. It struck me as such an interesting word, not to mention that I really wanted to know what he was saying, that I looked it up. That’s when I realized that Elucidation is Accolade’s job. And it is why you read and need our books.
At Convergence and Summit, year after year, people drift by and shout, “We LOVE your books!” or “Is there a new one I don’t have?”, or “we love the way you write, you explain things in my terms, you make me understand what I am doing”. We like these comments and enjoy hearing them. More, it explains why so many people purchase our books.
We Elucidate…you learn!
Some people can work by rote. Give them a task and they repeat it flawlessly time after time. But when something out of the ordinary happens, it is important to know and understand what is happening when those transactions are entered and posted. The more you know and understand about the software you use, the better you can use it. Better, the deeper the education on the software, the more valuable you are to your firm.
You can learn by taking classes, you can learn by attending seminars, you can learn by playing in a test company, or you can learn by reading. No matter which method of learning works best for you, having a good text that helps you learn, carefully explains not only how to do a task but what that task does makes learning easier. That’s what we do.

Version 2013 Closeup -- Mass Depreciation Reversal
Opps! Ever depreciated the wrong group of assets? Or entered the wrong depreciation date? Editing those records one by one was a pain.
Now a mass reverse depreciation can be performed. This assists greatly when errors are made and posted. Simply click the appropriate box, set the reversal date, and all of the assets in the selected group are reversed.
Accolade's book Version 2013 Unleashed provides user instructions for this and many other enhancements in the new Version 2013 of MS Dynamics GP.
Use Accolade's Version 2013 Unleashed to Train Your Users
While there are plenty of lists of features included in Version 2013, Accolade's book Version 2013 Unleashed is the only known text that explains how to implement and use these new features. Every new feature of the application is discussed in detail. Images of the screens are included and documentation for the end user is provided.
2013 is packed full of user features. Yes, the desktop has change slightly, but the mass of new features is the real benefit of this upgrade. From fixed asset calendars to item transaction reason codes (and reason specific account numbers) the growth of GP has been enhanced significantly. But users need to know how to utilize these new features and how to get them properly configured.
Remember those times when purchasing closed a PO before accounting posted the invoice. That can be prevented now. You just need to know how!
Ever tried to drop ship a serial or lot tracked item? Now you can, you just need to know how!
Then there are the image attachment enhancements, the reconciled indicators, standard cost adjustments, using SSRS reports as forms, up-selling in SOP, and much, much more.
In the nearly 100 pages of Version 2013 Unleashed, we explain in detail all of these new features. Get your copies today and use them to train your users. (Volume discounts available for partners.)
Don't simply tell your users what is included in 2013, tell them how to use these features.
Maintaining Dynamics GP
Every system requires a little maintenance. We change the oil in the car, make sure to eat healthy, and paint the house every now and then. Your accounting system needs a little TLC as well. In this book we discuss some of the issues that need to be addressed to keep that accounting system running smooth. After all, the boss believes this is being done.
And it's YOUR job!
Every year, after year end closing is over, it is time to purge extra data. Sure, sales wants to know who purchased what for the past 5 years and what products are selling in what part of the country, but no one needs to know that the order shipped UPS Blue! Selective purging of data can retain the important information and get rid of the junk. You keep, for example, summary posting to GL and delete the detail from 12 years ago. You keep the record of how much of specific items were purchased but not the time it took to deliver 3 years ago.
Reindexing of databases, reconciliations, Check Links, and Security Audits are all tasks that should be performed on a periodic basis. It keeps the applications running well. Maintaining MS Dynamics GP explores all of these necessary tasks.
And then there are backups. What would happen if accounting needed to know detail purged from the system 5 years ago for the IRS or for stock holders? Can you take the annual backups and restore them? Think, now, were any updates performed? More needs to be copied and archived than just the data. Again Maintaining MS Dynamics GP covers this vital task.
Version 9, 10, 2010, or 2013, all have the same maintenance tasks, only the menu locations have been changed to confuse the new people. If you don't have a copy of Maintaining MS Dynamics GP , get one today! And check out our other books that help you maintain your system, Creating Reports with SSRS, Information Flow and Posting, are all available through our web site, Amazon.com, and many dealers.
